Little Esthwaite Cottage
This is Little Esthwaite Cottage, in Near Sawrey. It sleeps two, one bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's comfortable, not huge. You can bring one dog.
It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level. Two steps up into the living room from the kitchen. The living room has doors out to a private patio. You can see the fields and a bit of Esthwaite Water from there.
The garden is shared with the cottage next door. It's mostly lawn and borders. The view from it is the real point. You can see right across to the fells, like the Old Man of Coniston.
There's a pub about five minutes' walk away. The Tower Bank Arms. It does food. Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's house, is also in the village. It's run by the National Trust, so you'll need to book.
You can walk straight from the door. There's a path along the lake edge. Esthwaite's a quiet one. Hawkshead village is a short drive, maybe five minutes. It's got shops and cafes. From Hawkshead you can get to Tarn Hows easily, which is a popular walk.
Coniston is about ten minutes by car. Bowness-on-Windermere is a bit further, maybe twenty minutes, depending on the ferry queue. The lake steamers run from there.
Inside, it's got a wood burner in the living room, a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site.
