Little Esthwaite Cottage

Little Esthwaite Cottage is in Near Sawrey. It's a small, single-storey bungalow, sleeps two. One double bed, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is tidy and comfortable.

It's on the edge of the original grounds of the house where Beatrix Potter stayed as a child. Her own house, Hill Top, is a short walk away. It's a National Trust property, so you can visit: National Trust Hill Top.

The cottage looks out across fields to Esthwaite Water. You can walk across the meadow to the lake shore in a few minutes. There are walks direct from the door. The garden is shared with the property next door, but it's a big space with lawns and views.

Inside, it's all on the ground floor. There's a step up from the kitchen into the living room. The living room has a wood burner and doors out to your own private, enclosed patio. It's a good spot to sit.

There's a pub about a quarter of a mile away. Hawkshead village is a short drive, maybe five minutes. From there, you can get the ferry across Windermere to Bowness. The steamers on Windermere go up to Ambleside or down to Lakeside.

Coniston Water is about a ten-minute drive. Tarn Hows is nearby. For longer walks, you're right on the edge of the fells. The National Trust Lake District site has walking ideas.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, TV, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog. The stairs point is irrelevant here, as it's all on one level.
