Bownessy's Retreat is in Bowness, about two minutes' walk from the main shops and the lake. It's a ground floor apartment, all on one level. The parking space is right outside the door.
It's for two people only. One bedroom, one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. Everything's open plan, so the living area, kitchen, and dining space are all in one room.
There's a shop and a few pubs about 200 yards away. You can walk down to Bowness Bay in five minutes to see the boats.
For walking, you can start right from the door. Or you can drive. The nearest National Trust place is probably Wray Castle, about ten minutes up the road. The Lake District National Park site has good route ideas. For boat trips on the lake, the Windermere Jetty Museum is in Bowness.
Within half an hour you can get to Ambleside, Grasmere, or Hawkshead. Windermere train station is a short drive or a twenty minute walk if you're coming by train.
Facilities: it has a dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and the bedding and towels are included. The parking is a real plus in Bowness. No pets, sorry.
