Garth Cottage is a one bedroom apartment for two people in Near Sawrey. It's near a pub and a short walk to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's old house.
The place is a 4 Star, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. You get your own parking space right outside.
You access it from a small courtyard, up seven stone steps. The living area is open plan, with TV and WiFi. There's a little terrace outside with a table and chairs. Four steps go down from the living area to the kitchen.
Up a separate flight of stairs is the bedroom and a shower room. The stairs are standard cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep.
The washing machine is in a shared outhouse with the cottage opposite.
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
The village is quiet. The pub is about five minutes walk away and does food. Hill Top is managed by the National Trust. You can walk around Esthwaite Water from here.
Hawkshead is two miles away for shops and cafes. You can drive to the Windermere car ferry and be in Bowness in about fifteen minutes. The ferry itself takes ten minutes.
Grizedale Forest is about a ten minute drive. They have walking and cycling trails and a visitor centre. The Lake District National Park site is good for planning walks.
You can book it together with Gardeners Cottage next door if there are more of you.
