Boston House is in Windermere. It's a big, seven bedroom house for groups. Sleeps fourteen comfortably. It's Grade II listed, so the walls are thick and the windows are proper old glass. It's not a modern box.
Each of the seven bedrooms has its own bathroom or shower room. That's the main thing. No queueing. Five are en-suite, two have separate bathrooms just outside the door. Three beds are four-posters.
The kitchen is large, with a big range cooker and an island unit that seats eight. The dining room has a huge table for everyone. The lounge has leather sofas and a gas fire. The fireplace is a replica of one in Westminster, designed by Pugin.
Down in the cellar, there's a proper cinema room with fourteen seats. It's a bit of a novelty, but groups seem to like it.
Outside at the back is a walled courtyard. It's very private. There's a large teak table and chairs on a slate patio, and a seven-seater hot tub. At the front, there's a smaller patio that gets the sun.
You can park six cars on the drive.
The house is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from Windermere village for shops and the station. Bowness-on-Windermere and the lake are a bit further, maybe twenty-five minutes on foot or a few minutes in the car.
For wider days out, you're in the middle of the Lake District. Lake District National Park has all the walking routes. National Trust Lake District covers many local properties and car parks. Keswick, Ambleside, and Grasmere are all within a half hour drive.
Facilities are what you'd expect for a place this size. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, all bedding and towels included. There's a cot and highchair. Up to four well-behaved dogs are welcome.
