The Nest is a one bedroom place up at Kirkstone, above Ambleside. It's part of a working farm, so you'll see sheep and highland cattle around. It used to be the horse carriage house.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and warm, but not a luxury hotel. The views from up there are really something, looking out over the valley.
You're high up, so it's very quiet and the night skies are dark. Good for stargazing if that's your thing. Buzzards are often flying about.
It's a proper base for walking. You can head straight out from the door. For a pint, the Kirkstone Pass Inn is the closest, just up the road.
Ambleside is about ten minutes drive down the hill for shops and cafes. Windermere is about fifteen minutes. If you want a bigger day out, Keswick or Grasmere are within half an hour.
What's there: a small garden patio, a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are provided. There's parking. No pets.
