Fairfield Cottage is in Ambleside. It's a terraced cottage, Lakeland stone like most of them. You can walk into town, it's downhill. The walk back is uphill, but that's Ambleside for you.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. The bathroom is on the first floor and has a bath and a separate shower. Two bedrooms are up another flight of stairs. The stairs are steep, as you'd expect. It's a 4 Star place, so it's in good order.
The living room has a gas fire. The kitchen has a wood burning stove, which is nice. The garden is out the back. It's on a few different levels with some steps, but it gets the sun in the afternoon.
You're a five or ten minute walk from the middle of Ambleside. There are pubs, shops, places to eat. For a bigger lake, Lake Windermere is close by for boats and cruises. You can start walks straight from the door.
Within half an hour's drive you've got places like Grasmere, Coniston Water, and the start of the Langdale Valley. If you're interested in the history of the area, the National Trust looks after a lot of it. The main Lake District National Park site is useful for planning walks and checking weather.
Facilities: there's parking for one car, a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets.
