Rydal Cottage is in Bowness, near the lake. It's an old place, from the 1700s. It sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's been done up recently and is in good order.
The living room has a wood burner. The kitchen is small but has everything you need. There's a washing machine in a utility room off the back. Outside is a small, enclosed courtyard. It's not a garden, but it's private and gets the sun.
The stairs are steep. They're original. The bathroom is new and has a good walk-in shower. One bedroom has a double bed, the other has twins.
You're right in the middle of Bowness. The main street with all the shops, cafes, and the decent pubs is a two-minute walk. The lakefront, where you get the boats, is about five minutes. You can walk to Windermere Lake Cruises to get a steamer, or hire a rowing boat.
For walking, Orrest Head in Windermere is a classic short climb with a big view. It's about a mile away. The proper fells like the Fairfield horseshoe or the Langdales are a 15-30 minute drive.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, wood burner, washing machine, parking for one car on the street out front. We allow one well-behaved dog. Bedding and towels are included.
