Waingap Cottage is in Crook, about fifteen minutes drive from Bowness-on-Windermere. It's detached, so you won't hear anyone through the walls. It's a four star property, which means it's well kept and comfortable.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. The stairs are fairly steep, it's that sort of cottage. There's a wood burning stove, which we leave wood for. The kitchen is modern and has a dishwasher and washing machine.
The main thing is the view. It looks out over the fields towards the fells. You get a lot of wildlife. Deer, owls, that sort of thing. On a clear night you can see the stars really well.
You can walk straight from the door onto the footpaths. The Dales Way passes nearby. Crook itself has a pub about a mile's walk away. Staveley village is two miles and has a few more places, including a bakery, a chip shop, and a brewery tap.
Bowness and Windermere are a short drive for the lake activities. Kendal is about ten minutes in the other direction for supermarkets and the cinema. For a proper day out, Lake District National Park has all the walking routes, and the National Trust looks after a lot of the houses and land around here.
Facilities are all there. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for two cars on the gravel drive. No pets, sorry. The garden is enclosed but it's on a slope, like the cottage.
