Alice Howe

This is Alice Howe, it's in Windermere village. It's a big, listed stone house. It sleeps fourteen people, in seven bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. That's the main thing about it.

The house has a 4 Star rating. It's well looked after. There are some chunky four-poster beds and solid wooden singles. There's a cinema room downstairs, and a games room. Outside, there's a private hot tub and a garden. The car park fits six cars, and there's an electric vehicle charger.

It works well for a large group, like a big family get-together or a group of friends. You can bring up to four dogs. The train and bus station is just around the corner, which is useful if some people are coming by train.

Something to know: the house is old and has some steep stairs in places.

You're in Windermere village. There are shops, cafes, and a pub a few minutes' walk away. The lake is about a fifteen minute walk down the hill. From there, you can get on the steamers or hire a rowing boat.

For walking, you can pick up paths straight from the door into the fells. Ambleside is about ten minutes by car, Grasmere is about twenty. If you want to plan days out, the Lake District National Park site is very helpful, and the National Trust looks after a lot of the nearby places like Fell Foot and Wray Castle.

Included in the price is all the bedding, towels, electricity, and wifi. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, cot, and highchair if you need them.
