Methera Cottage

Methera Cottage is in Clappersgate. It's basically part of Ambleside, about a five minute drive from the centre. The cottage itself is one of a few in a converted stone building around a shared courtyard. You can park right outside your door.

It sleeps four. Two double bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. One of the bedrooms has beds that can be split into twins if you need that. Downstairs is all open plan: kitchen, dining area, living space. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well done.

There's a gate opposite the courtyard. It leads down some steps to a garden area by the River Brathay. You share that with other guests from the other cottages. There's a metal ladder into the river if you're brave enough for a swim. It's very cold.

You can start walks from behind the cottage. No need to drive. Ambleside has all the shops and pubs you'd need. It's busy in season.

It's a good spot for getting around. Bowness and Windermere are about ten minutes south. For something different, you can drive to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's house, or to Brockhole on the lake for activities. Further afield, Keswick and Grasmere are within half an hour. The Lake District National Park site has walking routes and information.

Facilities: everything's included. Wifi, TV, bedding and towels. There's a dishwasher, parking, and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
