The apartment has a stable door that opens to the outside. There's a small patio area. You can walk into Bowness from here, it's about five minutes to the main shops and down to the lake. Windermere village is also walkable, it's maybe a fifteen-minute stroll up the hill.

For the lake, you can get a boat from Bowness pier. They go to Ambleside or down to Lakeside. The Lake District National Park Authority website has maps and walking ideas. Orrest Head is the classic short walk from Windermere for the view. It's steep at the start but worth it.

If you drive, Grasmere is about twenty minutes away. Keswick is about half an hour. The roads can be busy in summer. For a longer day out, the western lakes like Buttermere are within a 30-minute drive, traffic depending.
