Ivy Cottage

Ivy Cottage is in Staveley, in Cumbria. It's a three-storey terrace cottage, slate on the outside like most of them here. It's been renovated throughout.

It sleeps six people. Four bedrooms in total. There are three bathrooms, so two of the bedrooms have an ensuite. The top floor has the other two single bedrooms, but the ceiling is quite low up there. It's fine for kids. The stairs are a typical cottage spiral, so watch your step.

Downstairs is open plan. Stone floors, a wood burner in the living area, a big dining table. The kitchen is new and has bi-fold doors that open onto a private courtyard. There's a lawned garden beyond that. We've put in a secure shed for bikes and outdoor kit, accessed from the courtyard.

You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking, WiFi, a dishwasher, and a washing machine.

Staveley is a proper village. There's a good pub about a two-minute walk away. There's a cafe by the river and a few local shops. The village is known for its bike shop if you're into cycling.

You're about a five-minute drive from Windermere for boat trips. Kendal is about ten minutes the other way for supermarkets and the town centre. For walking, you're right between the Kentmere valley and the fells around Troutbeck and Ambleside. The Dales Way path goes through the village.
