Low Jock Scar Estate

Low Jock Scar Estate is in Selside, Cumbria. It's not a single house. It's a group of four cottages around a shared garden, so it sleeps 18 in total. You get your own space but can all be together.

Riverside Cottage is the big one, sleeping eight. It has a large conservatory that seats everyone for meals. Its garden has a hot tub and a small stream, what we'd call a beck, running past it. Lily Cottage sleeps two and is attached to it. Then there's Butterfly Cottage, which sleeps six, and Tulip Cottage for two. They all share a big garden with a BBQ area by the beck.

The place has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. There are nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms between them all, so nobody should be queueing. The facilities list covers things like washing machines, dishwashers, and wifi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site. No pets, sorry.

The cottages sit in about six and a half acres of land, with some woodland to walk through. You'll see birds, deer, sometimes hares. In late spring the bluebells come out. In autumn, the leaves turn.

It's a good spot for exploring. You're kind of between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Kendal is about a 20-minute drive. It's a market town with shops, pubs, and a castle. From there, you can head west into the Lakes towards Windermere, or east into the Dales towards Sedbergh and Hawes. The northern lakes like Ullswater are under an hour's drive.

For planning days out, these sites are useful: Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park, and National Trust Lake District.
