Riverside Mill & Glamping Pod

This is Riverside Mill. It's in a small spot called Patton Bridge, about four miles outside Kendal. It's a single-storey stone cottage right next to the River Mint.

It sleeps nine, in four bedrooms and with two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating. There's also a separate glamping pod next to the river for extra space, which has its own bathroom and sleeps four.

The main room is open-plan, split over two levels with big doors out to a balcony. There's an old fireplace with a wood burner. The kitchen is a separate room. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all on the same level. One thing to note: the river runs through a mill race in the garden, so there's a waterfall. It's a proper, working mill stream, so it's quite loud. It's nice, but it's not a quiet trickle. You can hear it from inside.

Outside, there's a decked balcony overlooking the water, a courtyard garden, and a private hot tub that fits six. There's about 500 yards of fishing rights on the river if you have a licence. You can park four cars off the road.

A public footpath runs past the edge of the property, so you can be straight out walking. Kendal is four miles away for shops and restaurants. The Lake District National Park boundary is about the same distance.

Within half an hour you've got Windermere, Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall, and parts of the Yorkshire Dales. The coast at Morecambe Bay is about a 40-minute drive.

Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels, a cot, and WiFi. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
