Riverside Mill is near Patton Bridge, just outside Kendal. It’s a single-storey converted mill right on the River Mint. It’s detached, and you can hear the water all the time.
It sleeps nine, but that's in four bedrooms in the main house plus the glamping pod. The house has two bathrooms. The pod has its own shower room and underfloor heating. It sleeps four. So it's good for a family or a group where some people wouldn't mind using the pod.
The main living area is open-plan with an old fireplace and a wood burner. The stairs inside are steep, because it's split over two levels. The doors open onto a decked balcony over the water. There’s a private hot tub that fits six.
The garden has about 500 yards of fishing rights on the river. You need your own licence.
Kendal is about four miles away for shops, supermarkets, and pubs. The edge of the Lake District is about the same distance. Windermere is a 20-minute drive, I'd say. For a big day out, the Lake District National Park site has walking routes and tips. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are nearby if you like visiting houses.
It's a 4 Star place. It's clean and well-equipped, not luxury. You can bring one dog. There's parking for four cars. The facilities list is what you'd expect: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, bedding included. There's a cot if you need it.
