Beck Foot Cottage is on our farm in Howgill. It's one of a pair of semi-detached farm cottages. You look out over the yard and fields.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean, warm and straightforward, not a show home. The stairs are standard cottage stairs, so a bit steeper than a modern house.
You're right in the middle of a working farm. You'll see sheep, cows, sometimes lambs or goats from the windows. The entrance is gated from the farmyard, which is handy if you have a dog or small children.
There's a small garden out the back you can use. The kitchen has a proper farmhouse table and a view over the fields. The living room has a smart TV and some old furniture that's been here forever.
Sedbergh is the nearest town, about five minutes in the car. It's a proper little market town with cobbled streets and lots of bookshops. It's good for a wander and you can get most things you need there.
You're right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park for walking. The Howgill Fells are basically on the doorstep. For a longer drive, Kendal is about half an hour away, and the Lake District proper – like Windermere – is within about 40 minutes.
What's here: WiFi, a dishwasher, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's fishing nearby if that's your thing.
