Gateside Farmhouse is our place up near Sedbergh. It's pretty much in the middle of farmland, with good views of the Howgill Fells from all the windows.
It's a big house, sleeps ten. Five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's been completely renovated so everything's in good order. The rooms are light and large. Because it's on three floors, it works well for a big group, you're not all on top of each other.
Sedbergh is about two and a half miles down the road. It's a nice walk if you're up for it. The town has some good cafes and a few bookshops, it's known as a book town. The nearest shop, pub, and restaurant are about three miles away.
You're on a working farm here, so it's very quiet. You'll see sheep. There's an enclosed garden for you to use. It's right on a national cycle route if that's your thing.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, wifi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We leave a small welcome pack for you. There's parking on site. Sorry, no pets.
For walking, you're right between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The Howgills themselves are great for a proper hike. You can drive into the Lakes in under half an hour. For local information, the Yorkshire Dales National Park site is useful, as is the Lake District National Park site.
