It's May Cottage in Ambleside, right in the middle of the village. You're five minutes from the shops and pubs, but it's tucked down a side lane so it feels a bit quieter.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One's a double with its own bathroom, the other has a big bed that can be two singles if you need it. There's a second bathroom as well, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well done. The stairs are fairly typical for around here.
The living room is downstairs, with a wood burner. The kitchen leads out to a walled patio at the back. It gets the sun in the afternoon. There's a good view of Wansfell from there. There's also a stone shed out back for bikes or walking gear.
You're on the doorstep for everything in Ambleside. Stock Ghyll Force waterfall is a short walk up through the park. For longer walks, you can pick up the paths onto the fells from the village. The lake at Waterhead is about fifteen minutes on foot.
Within half an hour's drive you've got Grasmere, Coniston Water, and the top of Windermere. Keswick is about forty minutes. You can get to most of the central lakes without too much trouble.
In terms of things here, it's got parking for one car, WiFi, a dishwasher, and the towels and bedding are included. You can bring two dogs.
