The Old Coach House
The Old Coach House is an apartment in a big Victorian house called Wood Close. It's up on the slopes, about three quarters of a mile walk from Grasmere village centre. You get your own parking space for one car.
It's just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not basic. The bedroom has a kingsize bed. The bathroom has a roll-top bath with an electric shower over it.
The living room has big windows looking out over the garden. There's a sofa, chairs, a dining table, and a Smart TV. The kitchen is modern and has a breakfast bar. There are books and maps about the area if you need them.
The grounds are shared with the other apartments. It's three acres of garden and woodland. There's a terrace with a good view of Grasmere lake. There's a small pond and a stream. We get red squirrels and sometimes deer. The laundry room is shared too; there's an honesty box for using the washing machine and dryer.
You can walk straight from the garden onto the fells. The Coffin Route to Rydal starts there. It's a gentle downhill walk into Grasmere village. The village has a few pubs and restaurants, a small supermarket, a chemist, and the gingerbread shop. William Wordsworth is buried in the churchyard.
Ambleside is about four miles away for more shops. Keswick is about thirteen miles. For days out, National Trust Lake District and Lake District National Park have all the information.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine in shared laundry, bedding and towels included, your own garden patio. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
