The Sand Martin

The Sand Martin is in Beadnell, a village right on the coast. It's a two-bed cottage, sleeps four. You've got one bathroom with a walk-in shower.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well kept. The stairs are standard, nothing unusual.

The garden is enclosed with a decked area. It gets the sun in the evening. Good spot for a drink if the wind's not coming off the sea.

Beadnell Bay is a five minute walk. It's a huge sandy beach. Dogs are allowed on it, so that's handy. The village has a pub, The Craster Arms, and a fish and chip shop. Both are fine.

Bamburgh Castle is about four miles up the road. It's very impressive on the cliff. You can get boat trips to the Farne Islands from Seahouses, which is the next village along. That's for the puffins and seals.

Alnwick Castle and the gardens are about a 25 minute drive inland. Good if you've got kids, or if you like big formal gardens.

For a longer walk, the Northumberland Coast Path runs right past. You can walk to Low Newton for a pint at The Ship, or north to Bamburgh.

Inside, there's a washing machine and dryer in the garage utility space. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on the drive. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
