The Old Reading Room

The Old Reading Room is in Bamburgh. It's the stone cottage up the little private lane off the main street. It's detached, so no shared walls. The village green and the castle are a two minute walk one way, the beach is a two minute walk the other.

It sleeps three people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean. It's not new or fancy, but it's solid.

The stairs are a cottage staircase. They're fine, but they turn and they're a bit steeper than modern ones.

You've got a small enclosed patio out the back. It gets the sun in the afternoon. Parking is on-site, which is useful here.

Everything in the village is walking distance. There are a couple of pubs that do food, a few tea rooms, and a good village shop. The Grace Darling Museum is just round the corner if you're interested in that.

The beach is massive. You can walk for miles. The castle dominates everything, it's quite a sight. For a longer walk, you can follow the coast path.

If you drive, Holy Island is about twenty minutes, but check the tide times. Alnwick Castle and its gardens are about half an hour inland. Seahouses is the next village along for boat trips to the Farne Islands.

Inside, there’s a washing machine, WiFi, and all the bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
