Well House

Well House is on Belford's high street. It's a big old stone house, Grade II listed. It used to be the Angel Inn. It sleeps eight, over four bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. There's parking at the side.

It has a 5 Star rating, which means it's well looked after. It's on two main floors, plus a cellar. The stairs are wooden and a bit uneven in places, as you'd expect. The ceilings are high and there are some old beams.

The original village well is still in the cellar. You can see it through a glass panel. It's a curiosity.

There are a couple of living rooms. One is more formal, the other is in a converted stable at the back, with stone walls. Both have wood burners. There's also a snug with a TV and some games. The kitchen is big, with a large table and a gas range cooker. Bedding and towels are included.

The garden is enclosed and quite private, with a patio area. You can take two dogs.

Belford has the basics: a Co-op supermarket, a newsagent, a couple of pubs that do food, and a fish and chip shop. The Well House Cafe is right next door and does good breakfasts and cakes.

You're well placed here. Bamburgh and its castle are about five miles away. The beach there is huge. Seahouses is about seven miles, for boat trips to the Farne Islands. Alnwick Castle and its gardens are a twenty minute drive. The Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot Hills are inland. Holy Island is about a half hour drive, but you must check the tide times. The coast road north to Berwick is a good route for cyclists.
