Bamburgh is about five miles east. You've got the castle and a huge sandy beach there. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a short drive away too, but you must check the crossing times for the causeway.
Within half an hour you can be at Alnwick Castle and gardens, or walking along the beach at Beadnell. The Farne Islands boat trips from Seahouses are great if you like seabirds and seals.
