The Gable

The Gable is in West Lyham, near Chatton. It's a two bedroom cottage in a small stone terrace. It sleeps three. There are fields all around, so you get a quiet view.

It's a 4 Star place, which means it's been done up nicely. The kitchen is modern and has a dining table. The lounge has a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. The stairs are fine, typical cottage steps. One bathroom upstairs with the two bedrooms.

You're about four miles from both Wooler and Belford. Belford has a shop and a good pub for food. Wooler is a proper little market town, right on the edge of the Cheviot Hills, good for walkers and cyclists. St Cuthbert's Way runs nearby if you're up for a long walk.

The coast is close. Bamburgh is about ten minutes in the car. The beach there is huge and sandy, with the castle looking over it. You can see Holy Island from there too. The whole coastline is protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

If you've brought a dog, they're welcome. There's an enclosed garden so they can't wander. There's also a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking right outside.

For fishing, there's Chatton Trout Fishery just down the road. You don't need a licence, you can just turn up.

Useful links if you're planning your trip: the Northumberland National Park site for walking, and the National Trust for the coast and castles like Lindisfarne.
