Haybale Barn is in Chatton, north Northumberland. It's a converted farm building on a small new development. It's detached so you’ve got your own space. The best thing about it is the view. You get proper, uninterrupted views across the Cheviot Hills from most of the windows and from the garden. It’s very peaceful.
It sleeps nine people. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so that should stop any arguments. Two of the doubles are on the ground floor. They both look out at the hills. One of them has its own shower room. Upstairs, there’s another double with an en-suite shower room, and a triple bedroom. The main bathroom is upstairs too, with a bath and a shower. The place has a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well fitted out. The ceilings are high with open beams. Be careful if you're tall. There’s a big dining table that's good for everyone to sit around.
The kitchen has what you’d need. There’s a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is a sun trap and it’s all yours. There's an electric vehicle charger on site.
Chatton village has a shop, which is handy, and a hotel that does food. The Chatton Art Gallery is there too. Wooler is about four miles away. That’s where you’ll find more shops, pubs, and a supermarket.
It’s a good spot for getting out. You’re about a 20 minute drive from the coast at Bamburgh. The castle is incredible and the beach is huge. From Seahouses you can get boat trips out to the Farne Islands to see the birds and seals. Inland, you’re right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot hills for walking. The St Cuthbert's Way long-distance path goes through Wooler.
For days out, Bamburgh Castle is impressive. Chillingham Castle is nearby if you fancy their ghost tours. There’s a golf club in Bamburgh, and clay pigeon shooting available in Wooler if you want to try it.
Practical things: bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair. You can bring up to two dogs. The parking is on site.
