The Old Forge is in Wooler, right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. It's a detached stone cottage, sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.
There's a balcony off the main living area with a table and chairs. You get a good view over the fields. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. We take one well-behaved pet.
You can walk straight from the door into the Cheviot hills. The town centre is a few minutes walk away. There's a Co-op for groceries and a couple of pubs that do food. The nearest golf course is just outside town.
For days out, you're well placed. The coast at Bamburgh and Alnmouth is about half an hour's drive. The National Trust Northumberland Coast page is useful for that. The Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon museum and distillery is just on the edge of Wooler if that's your sort of thing.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: a full kitchen with a dishwasher, a washing machine, Wi-Fi, and parking for a couple of cars. There's also an electric vehicle charger. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair.
This place can be booked together with the cottage next door, Grace's Dairy, if you need space for a bigger group.
