The Old Forge is in Wooler, right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. It's an end-terrace house that sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, which works well for a group. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
You've got a small balcony at the back with a table. It looks out over fields. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. We do allow one well-behaved pet.
The stairs are quite steep, typical for an old building. There's a stairgate at the top for little ones.
Wooler itself is a small market town. There's a decent pub within a few minutes' walk that does food. You can start walks straight from the door into the Cheviot hills. If you're into fishing or horse riding, that's all available locally.
For a day out, the coast at Bamburgh and Holy Island is about a half hour's drive. The beaches there are massive. Berwick-upon-Tweed is 15 miles away for a bit more history and shops. The new Ad Gefrin museum and distillery is just outside the town if that's your sort of thing.
You can easily pop into Scotland from here. Edinburgh is about an hour and a half if you fancy it.
Facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and highchair. Parking is on the drive and there's an electric vehicle charger. You can book the house next door as well if you need more space.
