Shafto Cottage is a terraced cottage in Seahouses, right in the village. You're about fifty yards from the harbour, which is useful.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One bathroom with a shower. It's got a 2 Star rating. It's tidy, with everything you need, but it's not a show home. The walls are a bit close to next door, which you can sometimes hear, but it's generally quiet.
There's a small shop and a pub just down the street. The pub does food. For boat trips out to the Farne Islands, you just walk to the harbour. They go to see the puffins and seals.
Bamburgh is three miles down the coast. The castle is huge and the beach is massive. You can walk there along the beach if you're feeling energetic and the tide's right.
There's a golf course on the links here too. For a longer drive, Alnwick Castle and its gardens are about half an hour away.
Facilities are straightforward. Washing machine, TV, bedding is included. Parking is on site, behind the cottage. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
For planning, these sites are good for local walks and history: National Trust Northumberland Coast and English Heritage Bamburgh Castle.
