Driftwood Cottage is in Seahouses. It's a stone-built mid-terrace house, about a three minute walk from the harbour. You can see the sea from the front bedroom.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean, with a woodburner for cooler evenings. The facilities are all there: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, parking for one car out the back. We allow two well-behaved dogs.
You're right in the village. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, and places to eat all within a hundred yards or so. The pub closest to the house does food. The harbour is where you get the boats out to the Farne Islands. It's a good trip for seeing puffins and seals.
Bamburgh is two miles up the road. The beach there is huge and sandy, and the castle is hard to miss. It's a proper castle. Holy Island is about a fifteen minute drive, but you have to check the tide times for the causeway.
For a day out, Alnwick is maybe twenty minutes inland. The castle is there, and the gardens with the big treehouse. Further down the coast, this bit of the coastline is all protected. It's good for walking. There's a golf course on the links just outside the village, and you can go horse riding from a stable nearby.
That's about it. It's a straightforward cottage in a good spot for the coast.
