Driftwood Cottage is my place in Seahouses. It's a mid-terraced stone cottage. It's got a 4 Star rating. It means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's not huge, but it's solid and cosy.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and one bathroom. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. It has everything you'd need: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on the drive.
Location is the main thing. You're about a two-minute walk from the harbour and the shops. The local pub and a restaurant are 100 yards away. The beach is a five-minute walk.
From the harbour, you can get boat trips out to the Farne Islands to see the puffins and seals. That's a good day out. Bamburgh is two miles up the road. The beach there is massive and the castle is impressive. You can see Holy Island from it.
For a half-hour drive, you've got Alnwick with its castle and famous gardens. Or you can go down the coast to places like Craster. The whole coastline here is good for walking. The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty runs right past.
