Shellrigg is on the Doxford Estate, about a mile or so inland from Embleton beach. It's a small cottage, really just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star Gold rating, which means everything is done to a high standard.
The cottage has two floors. Downstairs is a living room with a wood burner. They provide logs. French doors open out to a private patio. The kitchen is fitted out with everything you'd need.
The bedroom is upstairs. It's a super king size bed. There's also a football table and an air hockey table up there, and some space for playing games like badminton. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase.
You have your own garden. It looks out through trees towards Doxford Lake. The lake is a short walk away, there's a circular path around it. You can also walk to Doxford Hall if you want to use the spa or have a meal.
For the coast, Embleton Bay is a few minutes' drive. It's a big sandy beach. Bamburgh Beach and its castle are about a 15 minute drive. Craster is nearby for a walk along the cliffs to Dunstanburgh Castle. Further north you have Holy Island, but you must check the tide times for the causeway.
Inside, there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Parking is on site. Sorry, no pets.
