Heckley Cottage
Heckley Cottage is a bungalow. It's detached, built from stone. It sits on our farm, which is about fourteen acres. The views are over open fields.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. That bathroom is a wet room, which is good if anyone has trouble with steps. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and has what you need, but don't expect luxury fittings.
You get your own garden. It's large and enclosed, good for dogs or kids. The garden looks out over the countryside.
You're two miles north of Alnwick town. It's a quiet spot. The nearest pub and shop are about a mile and a half away. The coast is four miles. Those are proper sandy beaches.
Alnwick itself has the castle and the gardens. The castle is used for Alnwick Castle tours and the Alnwick Garden is separate. Both are worth a visit.
From here, you can get to a lot of the coast. Craster, Boulmer, Bamburgh, Seahouses are all within about half an hour. Bamburgh Castle is about twenty-five minutes by car. For wider planning, the Northumberland National Park and Northumberland Coast AONB sites have good information.
Facilities: there's parking right outside. The heating is from a woodburning stove and electric heaters. We include bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, WiFi, a TV. We allow up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
