The Stable is in Longhoughton, a village near the coast. It's my place behind Longhoughton Hall. It's all on one level, which is good for anyone who doesn't want stairs. It's a proper old stone building, but converted now. The ceilings inside are high and you can see the old roof timbers. There's a log burner for the evenings.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. One's a double, the other has twin beds. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means everything's in good order and the finish is a bit nicer.
You’ve got your own patio area with a table and chairs, and a BBQ. The garden around it is shared with the hall, but it's a big space so it doesn't feel crowded. Parking is right there.
Longhoughton itself is small and quiet. There's a village shop and a couple of pubs within walking distance. The beach at Sugar Sands is about a mile and a half away. It's a nice walk through the fields to get there. The views from the beach are good, you can see Dunstanburgh Castle.
Alnwick is ten minutes in the car. You've got everything there: shops, supermarkets, a few good pubs. Alnwick Castle is worth a visit, and the gardens are too. Further up the coast, Craster is famous for its kippers, and then you've got Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island. All of that coast is good for walking. The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty site has maps and ideas.
Inside, there's a dishwasher, a washing machine, and WiFi. All the bedding and towels are provided. No pets, sorry.
