Shoreline Penthouse

Shoreline Penthouse is in Alnmouth. It’s the top floor of a building in the centre of the village. You get an entire floor to yourselves. It was built in 2011, so it’s modern inside.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That’s handy so you’re not all queuing up. The 5 Star rating means it’s kitted out to a high standard, it’s not just a basic place. The main bedroom has a sofa in it and a TV.

The living space is open plan. The windows look out over the village and the estuary. You can see the church. The view from the main bedroom is particularly good, you can see right down the estuary.

You’re about a five minute walk from the beach. The village itself is quite small, with a few pubs and shops, all within about 500 yards. The houses are painted in different colours. People call it the Balamory village.

For attractions, Alnwick is about ten minutes by car. That’s where the castle is, the one they used for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. The Alnwick Garden is there too, with the big treehouse. Warkworth is another few minutes down the road, you can see its castle ruins from the main road.

Up the coast, Bamburgh is about twenty-five minutes away. The castle there is massive, right on the sea front. The whole coastline is good for walking. The main Northumberland Coast AONB site has walking maps.

Facilities: you’ve got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking on site. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. It’s an enclosed patio, not a big garden. No pets allowed.

Alnmouth station is about a ten minute walk away, if you’re coming by train. Useful link for planning: Visit Northumberland.
