Wheelhouse 21

Wheelhouse 21 is in Amble. It's a semi-detached house, one of a terrace, about a hundred yards from the little beach and the harbour.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. We had it renovated a few years ago, so it's in good order.

The back has an enclosed patio area. It catches the sun in the afternoon. Inside, there's a wood burner for the cooler evenings. There's a TV, wifi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's parking right outside.

Amble's a small fishing town. There's a shop just down the road, and a few pubs within a few minutes' walk. The one by the harbour does food. The town has fish and chip shops and a couple of fish restaurants on the harbour. The Sunday market is popular. You can get boat trips from the harbour out to Coquet Island, which is a bird sanctuary.

For a longer walk, you can follow the estuary path to Warkworth. It's about two miles. The castle there is impressive, and there are a couple of pubs and cafes.

You're right on the Northumberland coast. The beach at Amble is sandy. For a bigger beach, Druridge Bay is about a ten minute drive south. North up the coast, the beaches go for miles. Alnwick Castle is about a twenty minute drive. It's the one used for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Holy Island is about forty minutes north, but you must check the tide times for the causeway.

Further afield, Newcastle is about an hour's drive south. Northumberland National Park and Kielder are inland, within an hour or so. Hadrian's Wall is about an hour's drive west.
