Stable Cottage

Stable Cottage is in Acklington. It's a single-storey stone cottage, attached to a couple of others. It's on the side of a small caravan site, but it's quiet.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, which means it's clean and comfortable but not posh.

You've got a wood burner. It heats the place well in winter. There's a patio area with garden furniture. The cottage is all on the ground floor, so the stairs aren't an issue.

The basics are here: a TV, a washing machine, towels and bedding included. Parking is right outside.

You can bring two dogs. The patio isn't fully enclosed, so that's something to be aware of if your dogs wander.

The local pub is about a mile away. The nearest shop is three miles. For a bigger shop, Morwick Dairy is about two miles away. They do good ice cream.

The coast is about four miles. Druridge Bay Country Park is three miles away. It's good for a walk, and there's a lake. The beach at Druridge is long and sandy.

Warkworth is worth a visit, about three miles. Nice castle, good pubs. Amble is a bit further, it's a small harbour town with places to eat.

Alnwick Castle is about half an hour's drive. Holy Island is further, maybe an hour's drive, but you have to check the tide times for the crossing.

Newcastle is under an hour if you want a city day. For walks, Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall are both within a 90 minute drive.

Some useful links if you're planning: Northumberland Coast, Northumberland National Park, and English Heritage for Hadrian's Wall.
