Hyem is a cottage in Amble. The name means 'home' here in the north. It's a two minute walk to the harbour and the beach.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We allow up to two dogs.
You've got an open plan living area downstairs with a wood burner. There are two sofas and a Smart TV. The kitchen was redone a few years ago. It has a coffee machine. There's a separate utility room with a washing machine, which is handy for wet coats or dog towels.
The stairs are fine. We've got a travel cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them.
Outside is an enclosed courtyard with a table and chairs. It gets the sun in the evening.
Amble itself is a proper working fishing town. There's a good butcher, a bakery, and an Italian restaurant. The fish and chip shop on the quayside is excellent. There's a Sunday market and little shops in the 'Harbour Village'. The views from the harbour are great, especially of Warkworth Castle and Coquet Island.
From the door, you can walk along the harbour and the beach. For a longer walk, you're right on the Northumberland Coast path. Warkworth village and its castle are about a mile south.
Within half an hour's drive you've got Alnwick Castle and gardens, the beaches at Druridge Bay, and Cragside. Further north, you've got Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island.
Everything's included: bedding, towels, electricity, and wifi. There's parking on the street outside.
