The Seaside Retreat is in Amble, right near the harbour. It's a small house on a normal street. The back garden is south facing and fully fenced, so it gets the sun most of the day.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower. It has that 4 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are what they warn you about, they're a bit steep and narrow.
It says up to two dogs are allowed. Facilities are straightforward. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, a TV. Bedding and towels are in. The front door is wheelchair accessible, but it's a two-storey house, so only the ground floor is.
You’re a couple of minutes’ walk from the harbour. There are seats to watch the boats, some cafes, and fish and chip shops. The walk along the pier is good, especially for sunsets.
A nice walk along the river gets you to Warkworth in a couple of miles. They’ve got the castle up on the hill and a few pubs. Driving north up the coast, you have Craster, then Seahouses, and Bamburgh with its big castle. Holy Island is a bit further, but you have to check the tide times for the causeway.
South down the coast, Druridge Bay and Creswell beaches are quiet. Alnwick is about fifteen minutes by car for the castle and gardens. Alnmouth train station isn’t far if you wanted a day in Newcastle or Edinburgh.
