The Rose
The Rose is in Hipsburn, Northumberland. It's a semi-detached cottage that sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Two well-behaved pets are welcome.
You're about a mile from Alnmouth village and the beach. The railway station at Hipsburn is a five-minute walk away. The train line is useful for visiting Alnwick without parking, or for a day trip to Newcastle.
The living room is a decent size and has an electric stove. The kitchen leads out to a private, enclosed garden. It gets the morning and evening sun. From the garden you can get into a separate games room. It's got a TV and an air hockey table, which is handy if the weather turns.
Alnmouth beach is good. It's a big, sandy stretch. The village has a few pubs, a shop, and some nice cafes. Golfers can use the course there.
Alnwick is about a ten-minute drive. The castle is the main attraction. It's the one used for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Barter Books in the old station is worth a visit too. It's a huge secondhand bookshop with a cafe inside.
Further up the coast, Seahouses is the place to get boat trips out to the Farne Islands. You'll see puffins in season, and seals. The fish and chips there are good.
