Red Steads Cottage
Red Steads Cottage is near Longhoughton. It's on a farm that's part of the Howick Estate. The cottage is mid-terraced, so you have neighbours on either side. You get some nice views over the walled gardens and fields from the front.
It sleeps five. There are three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. The French doors in the living room let in a lot of light.
You're on a working farm, so you'll see sheep. There's a private road to get to it. Because it's on the estate, you get a key to the locked gates. That lets you walk through the grounds directly down to Sugar Sands Bay or Howick Cove. It's about a ten minute walk. The Rumbling Kern beach is also good, and you can walk from there along to Craster.
Craster is about a mile and a half away. Famous for kippers. There's a pub there. Alnwick is maybe a fifteen minute drive. That's where the castle is. The cycle route goes past the end of the drive if you bring bikes.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a TV, and a garden with a BBQ. Bicycle storage is there. We allow one well-behaved dog. Bedding is included.
