Plantation Cottage is in Rock, which is inland a bit from the coast. It's a detached stone cottage on a slight hill, so the view from the front is over fields and towards Rock Hall. It used to be the local shepherd's farmhouse.
It sleeps six people in three double bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is en-suite to the main bedroom. The rating is 4 Star, which means it's been renovated to a good standard.
Downstairs, there's a living room with a wood burner in a big fireplace. The kitchen is separate and leads through to a dining room, which also has the view. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs.
You're about five miles from the beach at Newton-by-the-Sea and Embleton. Craster, which is six miles away, is where you go for kippers. Alnwick, with the castle and gardens, is seven miles to the south east.
For a walk along the coast, you can drive to Dunstanburgh Castle. It's a ruin on the cliffs. The National Trust looks after it. Further up the coast, Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands for the seabirds are within a half hour drive.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. A cot and highchair are here if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs. Bedding is included.
