This is Fox House. It's in Alnwick, just a short walk from the town centre. The cottage itself is on a street with other houses, it's not isolated. You get a small patio out the back with a table and chairs.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom is upstairs with its own shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. There's WiFi and parking for one car on the drive.
The stairs are a bit steep, it's spread over three floors. Something to note if you've got very young children or anyone less mobile.
You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
Alnwick itself is a good base. The castle is the big draw, it's the one they used for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. The gardens are impressive too, especially the treehouse restaurant and the poison garden. Worth a look.
The coast is close. Alnmouth Beach is about ten minutes drive east. Good for a walk. If you head north for twenty minutes, you get to Seahouses. That's where you get the boat trips out to the Farne Islands to see the puffins and seals. Bamburgh Castle is just up the road from there.
If you like walking, Rothbury and the Simonside Hills are about twenty minutes west. For a longer day out, you can get to parts of the Northumberland National Park or down to Newcastle in under an hour.
