This is Salar's Rest in Alnmouth. It's an end-terrace house, built about ten years ago. You get a good bit of garden with it. It’s on a quiet cul-de-sac, so it’s peaceful, but you’re only about five minutes’ walk from the beach and the estuary.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, four bathrooms. The 5 Star rating means it’s well-finished and comfortable. It’s got all the space you need for a family or a few couples.
Alnmouth is a nice little village. There are a couple of pubs and some shops about 500 yards away. The houses by the estuary are all different colours, they're quite famous for that. The beach is sandy and long, good for a walk or letting the kids run about.
You’ve got the Northumberland Coast Path right on the doorstep for walks. The village has a 9-hole golf course, England's oldest links course they say. There’s an 18-hole one at Foxton too, just next door.
Alnwick is about ten minutes in the car. The castle is there, they filmed some Harry Potter scenes in it. The gardens are huge, and they’ve got this massive treehouse. Warkworth is another ten minutes or so, you can walk there along the coast path in about forty minutes. It’s got a good ruined castle.
Further up the coast, Bamburgh is about half an hour’s drive. The castle is enormous, right on the sea. It’s worth seeing. You can get up to Holy Island from there too, but you have to check the tide times.
In the house, there’s a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and parking for a couple of cars on the drive. All the bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, I’m afraid.
Some useful links if you’re planning: Northumberland Coast National Landscape, National Trust North East, and English Heritage for the castles.
