This cottage is called Hidden Gem because that's what the previous owner named it. It's in Amble, about a ten minute walk from the harbour. It's an end-terrace house.
It sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We had it renovated last year. It's clean and straightforward. There are two small steps down into the bathroom, so watch your step.
The kitchen is new. There's a dishwasher and a small table. The living room has a wood burner. You get a patio area out the back that's fully enclosed. It gets the sun in the afternoon.
The local shop is about five minutes walk. The pub is closer, maybe three minutes. They do food. The harbour is where the lifeboat is. There's a market on Sundays and a couple of good fish and chip shops. You can get boat trips from there to see the puffins on Coquet Island.
You can walk to Warkworth along the river path. It takes about half an hour. The castle there is worth a look. English Heritage Warkworth Castle.
Alnwick is about a twenty minute drive. The castle is the main thing there. Alnwick Castle. For a bigger beach, Druridge Bay is ten minutes south by car.
Facilities: bedding and towels are included, there's Sky TV and internet, parking is on the street out front. No pets.
