Clutter Cottage is in Widdrington, Northumberland. It’s a two-bedroom place, sleeps four. There’s one bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a separate downstairs loo. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s tidy and modern inside, with exposed beams. The stairs are open-tread, so watch your step.
You can bring one dog. There’s a garden and parking on site. It has Wi-Fi, a TV, dishwasher and washing machine. Bedding and towels are included.
It’s a few minutes’ walk from the dunes at Druridge Bay. That’s a long, sandy beach. There’s good coastal walking right from the door, and it’s on a national cycle route. There are nature reserves nearby if you like birdwatching.
A decent pub serving food is about a mile away. Shops are a bit further, in Amble, which is about a 10-minute drive. Amble has a Sunday market, a marina, and places to eat. There’s also a café at Druridge Bay.
In terms of day trips, you’re well placed. Alnwick Castle and its bookshop are about half an hour inland. Up the coast, Bamburgh Castle is stunning. Seahouses, for boat trips to the Farne Islands, is maybe 40 minutes. Holy Island is reachable, just check the tide times. Newcastle is under an hour by car if you want a city day.
