Edwin Cottage

This is Edwin Cottage. It's in Amble, a small harbour town on the Northumberland coast. It's a stone terraced house, right on the street. You get a small backyard to yourselves.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable. The stairs are a typical cottage stairway, so they're a bit steeper and narrower than a modern house.

The cottage is in the middle of town. The harbour's a two minute walk one way, the little beach is a two minute walk the other. There are shops, a few pubs, and some good fish and chip places all within a couple of hundred yards. The Sunday market is nice.

Warkworth Castle is just over a mile away. It's a good walk along the river, or a very short drive. It's a proper ruin on a hill, you can't miss it. The English Heritage site has the details.

A five minute drive north gets you to Druridge Bay. It's a long, empty beach. The Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre is there, which is good for birdwatching.

Alnwick is about eight miles inland. The castle and gardens are the main draw there. The Alnwick Castle website has all the visitor information.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, wi-fi, and Netflix. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car on the street outside. You can bring one dog.

Useful links for planning: Northumberland County Council for general tourist info and National Trust North East if you're heading further up the coast.
