Melrose Cottage
Melrose Cottage is in Amble. It's a terraced house a few minutes' walk from the high street and the harbour.
It sleeps four people in two bedrooms. One king size room and one with twin beds. There's one shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. You can bring one dog.
The stairs are okay, but they're a cottage staircase so they turn a corner and are a bit steeper at the top. Watch your head on the low beam in the kitchen doorway.
Downstairs is a living room with a dining area and a wood burner in a big fireplace. The kitchen is at the back. It's a good size with all the usual appliances. Outside is a small, enclosed patio with a table and chairs.
Everything you need in Amble is a short walk away. The harbour has working fishing boats. There are good fish restaurants and cafes. You can rent a beach hut for the day from the harbour master.
Warkworth village is two miles down the road. It's a nice walk along the river. The castle is the main thing to see there. The beach is big and good for walking.
Alnwick is about a fifteen minute drive. The castle and the gardens are the big attractions. The treehouse restaurant in the gardens is worth seeing.
Up the coast, Seahouses is about twenty minutes by car. From there you can get boat trips out to the Farne Islands to see the seabirds and seals. Bamburgh is a bit further on. The castle is massive and the beach goes on for miles.
For walking, you're on the edge of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline here too.
For facilities, it's all there: WiFi, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car on the street outside.
