Coastal Retreat is in Amble, right near the harbour. It’s a detached house, built in 2020. You look out over the dunes and the sea from the front.
It sleeps eight, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It’s got a 5 Star rating, which means it’s well equipped and finished to a high standard. The living room is on the first floor and has a small balcony. There’s also a snug room off the kitchen, which is handy if people want to do different things.
The house is on three floors. The stairs are a standard modern staircase.
There’s an enclosed garden at the back.
The beach is about 200 yards away. You can walk to the harbour and the town centre in a few minutes. There’s a shop about 650 yards away, and a pub and a restaurant about 300 yards. The town has cafes, seafood places, and a good chip shop on the harbour. There’s a Sunday market too.
You can get boat trips from the harbour out to Coquet Island to see the puffins. Warkworth Castle is a couple of miles south along the coast path. It’s a nice walk if the weather’s fair.
Alnwick Castle and its gardens are about a 15 minute drive north. That’s where they filmed some of the Harry Potter scenes. The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty starts there and runs up the coast.
If you want to go further, the start of Hadrian’s Wall at Segedunum in Wallsend is about 40 minutes south by car. The Northumberland National Park and the Dark Sky Park are around an hour’s drive inland.
Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. You can bring up to two dogs.
