Buttercup Lodge

Buttercup Lodge is in North Togston, near Amble. It's a detached lodge in our own grounds, so it's separate from the main house. The view is good. You look straight out over fields to Warkworth Castle.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. The bathroom is en-suite. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean and has everything you need, without being luxury.

The garden is enclosed. There's a patio area at the front with a chimnea. It's a quiet spot.

Amble is about two miles away. It's a working harbour. You can get boat trips from there to Coquet Island if you like birdwatching. They've got a decent beach and some good fish and chip shops. There's a supermarket and a few pubs in Amble too.

Druridge Bay Country Park is a short drive. It's a long, sandy beach. Good for a walk.

Further up the coast, Craster is worth a visit. You can walk from there along the cliffs to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. Alnwick is inland, about six or seven miles. The castle is there, and the famous garden.

For wider planning, the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty site has good information. The National Trust for the Northumberland Coast covers a lot of the castles and beaches too.

The facilities are listed. It's all on one level, which is handy. There's parking. You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
