Oswin Cottge

Oswin Cottage is in Alnwick. It's a mid-terrace house, Victorian, stone-built. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom.

It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's comfortable, clean and sorted for the basics. It's not a show home.

The living room is cosy. There's a step down from there into the kitchen, which has a small dining area. The old range cooker is still there, it's a Purvis and Co one. It's not for use, but it's a nice feature. Off the kitchen there's a small sun room at the back.

The stairs are standard for a house like this. The bathroom has a walk-in shower.

You're right in the town. The nearest shop is about a minute's walk. A pub and a restaurant are about half a mile. Alnwick itself has everything: a cinema, other shops, plenty of places to eat.

The big things here are Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden. The castle is the Duke of Northumberland's place. The garden has that big treehouse and the cascade water feature. It's about a ten minute walk from the cottage.

You're well placed for the coast and the hills. The Heritage Coastline, like Alnmouth and Craster, is about a 15 minute drive. For a proper beach day, you'd want to go to Bamburgh or Embleton, which are about 20-25 minutes away. Inland, you've got the Cheviot Hills, which is about half an hour's drive for walking.

What's here: there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a small enclosed garden at the back. No pets, sorry.

For planning days out, these sites are useful: Northumberland National Park and Northumberland Coast AONB.
