Russell Cottage is my place in Alnwick town centre. It's a mid-terraced house, modern build, on a quiet little close. You get a private parking space out front, which is handy because parking in the town can be a pain.
It sleeps three, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. The rating is 4 Star. That just means it's comfortable and has what you need. The garden is enclosed, so it's safe if you've got kids or a dog. Sorry, no pets allowed though.
The location is the main thing. You're about a five minute walk from the market place, so you can leave the car. There's a decent pub and a restaurant about the same distance. A shop is a couple of minutes away.
Alnwick Castle is just up the road. The Alnwick Garden is there too, which is worth a visit. For a big walk, Hulne Park is on the edge of town, or you can drive out to the coast in about twenty minutes. Beadnell and Bamburgh are good for beaches.
Inside, it's got the normal stuff. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. All the bedding and towels are included.
If you're planning trips out, these sites are useful: Northumberland National Park for the Cheviots, and Northumberland Coast for the beaches and castles.
