Paddock Cottage
Paddock Cottage is on our farm, about two miles north of Alnwick. You turn off down a country lane to get here. It used to be a farm worker's cottage.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean. There's an open fire you can use. The WiFi is fine for checking emails.
The cottage looks out over the fields. You'll see our cows and horses. We've also got three pet pigs: Prudence, Portia, and Primrose. They're a bit spoiled. The garden is enclosed, so it's secure for dogs or kids.
You're on a working farm, so there will be tractor noise and animal sounds during the day. It's a quiet spot at night though.
Alnwick is two miles away for shops and pubs. The castle is there, obviously. The coast is about a fifteen minute drive. Bamburgh Castle and the beaches at Embleton and Beadnell are all within half an hour.
For facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, parking right outside, and bedding and towels are provided. You can bring up to three dogs.
If you're planning visits, these sites are useful: Northumberland National Park and Northumberland Coast AONB. The National Trust looks after a lot of the big properties and coastline here too.
