Larch Cottage is in Dunstan, a small spot on the Northumberland coast. It’s an end-of-terrace cottage, built in the 1700s. Sleeps three, two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and clean without any frills.
The walls are thick and the ceilings are low in places, which is normal for something this old. The stairs are a bit steep. There’s a shower room downstairs, not a bath.
It’s right next to a pub, about fifty yards away. They do good food. You can use their garden and patio area as well. The nearest shop is two miles off, in Craster.
Craster is famous for its kippers. It’s a nice walk along the coast path from here. Dunstanburgh Castle is just over a mile away along that path. The beach at Embleton Bay is very good, about a twenty minute walk.
Alnwick is six miles inland. You’ve got the castle and the gardens there. For a bigger day out, Bamburgh Castle is about a fifteen minute drive up the coast. Holy Island is about half an hour’s drive, but you must check the tide times.
Included: all the electricity, bedding, a TV, and parking for one car on the gravel outside. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There’s no enclosed garden, just a small shared yard at the back.
